To reach the Harbour Master’s House in Shannonbridge, County Offaly, Ireland, follow these detailed directions. Please note that Shannonbridge is a small village located on the River Shannon, so ensure you’re familiar with the surrounding areas to avoid confusion. You can either use a GPS or map as an additional guide.

Starting from Dublin (Approx. 1.5 hours drive)
  1. Leave Dublin via the M6 motorway.
  2. From the city center, head west towards the M6 motorway.
  3. Follow signs for Galway/West.
  4. Continue driving on the M6, and follow the signs for Ballinasloe/Clonmacnoise.
  5. Take Exit 6 for Ballinasloe.
  6. On the M6, take Exit 6 (Ballinasloe/Clonmacnoise).
  7. Follow signs to Ballinasloe (about 5 km).
  8. From Ballinasloe to Shannonbridge: Once you reach Ballinasloe, take the road heading south towards Shannonbridge (R444).
  9. This will be a local road that leads to the village of Shannonbridge (approximately 14 km).
  10. You’ll pass through scenic farmland and some smaller villages before reaching Shannonbridge.
  11. Arriving in Shannonbridge: When you enter Shannonbridge, keep an eye out for the Harbour Master’s House.
  12. The Harbour Master’s House is located near the river, by the bridge that crosses the River Shannon.
Starting from Athlone (Approx. 30 minutes)
  1. Leave Athlone via the N6 (Dublin road): Head west from Athlone on the N6 (also known as the R446).
  2. Follow signs for Ballinasloe/Clonmacnoise.
  3. Turn off at Shannonbridge Road: About 15 km out of Athlone, take the turnoff for Shannonbridge (R444).
  4. Continue south towards Shannonbridge: Follow the road for approximately 8-10 km, passing through some rural roads and smaller villages along the way.
  5. Arriving at Shannonbridge: As you enter the village, the Harbour Master’s House should be visible by the river, near the iconic bridge that crosses the River Shannon.
  6. If needed, ask locals for directions, as they are often familiar with the location.
Starting from Limerick (Approx. 1 hours drive)
  1. Leave Limerick via the N18/N6 (towards Galway): Head out of Limerick on the N18.
  2. At the junction with the N6, continue heading east towards Athlone/Westmeath.
  3. Take the exit for Ballinasloe/Clonmacnoise: Follow signs for Ballinasloe/Clonmacnoise and take Exit 6.
  4. From Ballinasloe to Shannonbridge: Once you’re on the R444, follow the road south for 14 km to Shannonbridge.
  5. Arriving in Shannonbridge: As you reach the village, the Harbour Master’s House is situated near the river, close to the bridge. Keep an eye out for landmarks like Shannonbridge Hotel or the nearby park and boat docks.
